Nirvana

Nirvana adalah nama sebuah grup band dari kota Aberdeen, Washington, Amerika Serikat, kemudian akhirnya mereka mendapatkan kesuksesan di kota Seattle, Amerika Serikat, yang terkenal dengan aliran musik grunge, atau yang dikenal juga dengan Seattle Sound. Band ini memiliki banyak pengikut atau fans setia di Indonesia, terutama dalam komunitas musik underground.

Nirvana mulai digemari, dan dikenal oleh dunia sejak dirilisnya album mereka yang berjudul Nevermind, dengan single yang dijagokan yaitu Smells Like Teen Spirit, single ini membuat mereka mendapatkan tropi The Best Alternative/Rock Band dan sempat menduduki tangga nada pertama di Billboard Amerika. Nirvana terdiri dari Krist Novoselic, Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, band ini bubar setelah Kurt Cobain bunuh diri akibat overdosis sesudah menghisap kokain ditempat tinggalnya pada tahun 1994.

Limp Bizkit

Limp Bizkit adalah sebuah grup musik beraliran rapcore rock dari Amerika Serikat. Bersama Korn, grup ini sering disebut sebagai band-band yang memperkenalkan genre musik baru nu metal. Band ini sekarang tergabung dengan Geffen Records, sebelumnya dengan Interscope Records. Kedua label adalah bagian dari label rekaman raksasa Universal Music Group. Nama asli band ini adalah Lethal Injection. Dalam waktu singkat, nama band ini dilafalkan dengan tulisan huruf kecil (limpbizkit). Album-album mereka telah terjual lebih dari 30 juta kopi di seluruh dunia.
Kadang-kadang, genre yang dimainkan dari band ini adalah apa yang dikenal sebagai rage rock, suatu genre musik yang dipromosikan secara khusus oleh Viacom, pemilik saluran musik terkenal Amerika, MTV, untuk kalangan remaja. Rammstein

Rammstein (diucapkan [ˈʀamʃtaɪ̯n]) adalah sebuah band Industrial Metal German, yang dibentuk di Berlin, Rammstein terkenal dengan aliran musiknya NDH-scene, sama seperti Oomph! dan Die Krupps. Aliran musik mereka sering disebut Tanz-Metal (lit. "Dance Metal"). Dibentuk tahun 1994, mereka sudah menjual 22 juta album rekaman diseluruh dunia. Nama Rammstein diambil secara tidak langsung dari kota kecil di Jerman Barat, yakni Ramstein, kota yang terdapat pangkalan militer Amerika Serikat, dan di kota itu jugalah pernah terjadi kecelakaan dalam pameran kedirgantaraan Blok Barat pada 1988. Salah satu lagu mereka yang berjudul "Rammstein", sebenarnya lebih ditujukan untuk mengenang peristiwa tragis tersebut daripada menjadi lagu mengenai band itu sendiri.
Walaupun lagu yang mereka bawakan tidak dalam bahasa Inggris, band ini cukup terkenal di luar Jerman, dan mempunyai basis penggemar yang kuat di Eropa Barat, Rusia, Amerika Utara, Tengah, serta Australia. Dan dengan peluncuran album "Reise, Reise" pada 2004, mereka menjadi band Jerman paling fenomenal di belantika musik internasional. Lagu-lagu mereka juga selalu menempati urutan sepuluh besar di Jerman.

Rammstein didirikan oleh gitaris Richard Z. Kruspe. Pada tahun 1989, dia melarikan diri ke Berlin Barat dan memulai sebuah band, Orgasm Death Gimmicks. Pada saat itu, ia sangat dipengaruhi oleh musik Amerika, terutama Kiss. Setelah Tembok Berlin Runtuh, dia pindah kembali ke Schwerin tempat dimana Till Lindemann bekerja sebagai penenun keranjang dan bermain drum untuk band First Arsch (sering disebut "Apex Ass"). Pada saat itu, Richard tinggal dengan Oliver Riedel, dari band Inchtabokatables, dan Christoph "Doom" Schneider (dari Die Firma). Dimmu Borgir

Dimmu Borgir ( /ˌdɪmuː ˈbɔrɡɪər/) is a Norwegian black metal band from Oslo, Norway, formed in 1993. Dimmu borgir means "dark cities" or "dark castles/fortresses" in Icelandic, Faroese and Old Norse. The name is derived from a volcanic formation in Iceland, Dimmuborgir. The band has been through numerous line-up changes over the years; guitarist Silenoz and vocalist Shagrath are the only founding members remaining.

Cradle of Filth

Cradle of Filth are an English extreme metal band, formed in Suffolk in 1991. The band's musical style evolved from black metal to a cleaner and more "produced" amalgam of gothic metal, symphonic black metal and other extreme metal styles, while their lyrical themes and imagery are heavily influenced by gothic literature, poetry, mythology and horror films.
The band has broken free from its original niche by courting mainstream publicity (often to the chagrin of its early fanbase), and this increased accessibility has brought coverage by the likes of Kerrang! and MTV, frequent main stage appearances at major festivals such as Ozzfest, Download, and even the mainstream Sziget Festival, and in turn a more "commercial" image. They have sometimes been perceived as Satanic by casual observers, although their outright lyrical references to satanism are few and far between, and use of satanic imagery has arguably always had more to do with literary allusion and the shock value than any seriously held beliefs.

Bleeding Through

Bleeding Through is an American metalcore band from Orange County, California. Formed in 1999, the band blends influences stemming from modern hardcore punk, symphonic black metal, and melodic death metal. Although the band is often labeled as simply metalcore, when Brandan Schieppati was asked if he considers Bleeding Through a hardcore band, he said: "I think we're a hardcore band and I'll never say we are a metal band, we're all hardcore kids and we came from the hardcore scene. Ours is just a different version of hardcore, we're trying to do something which adds a different variety to the hardcore scene, which has been sounding the same way for so long."
In 2004, Revolver magazine hailed Bleeding Through as one of eight bands ushering in the "Future of Metal" cover story, and Spin called Bleeding Through an "artist to watch" in the magazine's February 2004 issue.
Bleeding Through, a straight edge metalcore/death metal band, was formed in 1999 in Woodlake, California. The band's roots can be traced back to 1998, when Breakneck was founded by Brandan 'Sheep' Schieppati (Eighteen Visions / Throwdown), Javier Van Huss (Eighteen Visions / The Mistake / Enewetak), guitarist Scott Danough, bass guitarist Chad Tafolla and drummer Troy Born (Taken). They made their live debut as the supporting act to Throwdown and Adamantium. As the band witnessed lineup changes, the departure of Van Huss and subsequent recruitment of Marc Jackson (Throwdown / Cold War) to cover bass whilst Tafolla reverted to guitar, they decided to expand their current hardcore sound and added elements of death metal to their music. The origin of the band's name was explained in an interview as follows: "Well, it is summed up by the explanation that whether black, white, red, brown, yellow, religious preference, straight or gay, we all bleed the same, and we bleed through this life the same. Thus Bleeding Through."

Killswitch Engage

Killswitch Engage is an American metalcore band from Westfield, Massachusetts, formed in 1999 after the disbandment of Overcast and Aftershock. Killswitch Engage's current lineup consists of vocalist Howard Jones, bassist Mike D'Antonio, guitarists Joel Stroetzel and Adam Dutkiewicz, and drummer Justin Foley. The band has released five studio albums and one DVD.

Killswitch Engage rose to fame with its 2004 release The End of Heartache, which peaked at number 21 on the Billboard 200, and was certified gold in December 2007 for over 500,000 shipments in the United States. The title track, "The End of Heartache", was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2005, and a live DVD titled (Set This) World Ablaze was released in 2005. Killswitch Engage has performed at festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Reading and Leeds Festivals, Ozzfest, Download Festival, Rock on the Range, Rock Am Ring, Mayhem Festival, Pointfest, and the Australian Soundwave Festival. The band has sold over one-million records in the United States alone and have been widely referred to as "one of the founders of metalcore."

Killswitch Engage formed when the two metalcore bands, Overcast and Aftershock disbanded during the late 1990s. Following the disbandment of Overcast in 1998, bassist Mike D'Antonio jammed with Aftershock guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz. Dutkiewicz recruited guitarist Joel Stroetzel from Aftershock, and vocalist Jesse Leach of the band Nothing Stays Gold (who were signed to a record label owned by Dutkiewicz's brother Tobias Dutkiewicz, who was also the vocalist in Aftershock), to form a new band, Killswitch Engage. The band's name is derived from an episode of the television series The X-Files entitled "Kill Switch", written by William Gibson. Gibson named his episode after a chance meeting with industrial band Kill Switch...Klick.

In 1999, Killswitch Engage recorded a demo tape containing four tracks, including "Soilborn," Killswitch Engage's first song. The demo tape was first released at the band's first show, opening for melodic death metal act In Flames, in November 1999.

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is an American rock band that formed in Middleburg, Florida.
The band was started by childhood friends Ronnie Winter, Thomas Amason, and Duke Kitchens in an AP music theory class which they shared in 2003. After members from Thomas, Duke and Ronnie's other bands joined them, the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus was officially formed in 2003. The name 'Red Jumpsuit Apparatus' was chosen by the band voting for random words they threw up on a wall.
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus released an untitled demo with three songs in mid-2004. After adding nine more songs a few months later, the band released their self-titled 12-song LP that same year. While popular in their local scene, the band found it difficult to secure label support. Their fan base continued to build to an almost unheard-of level for a local band, in-turn attracting New York-based A&R/Management executive Steve Tramposch. Just a few months later, following a flurry of industry attention, the band signed with Virgin Records after Tramposch accepted a Senior A&R title there.

Unearth

Unearth is an American metalcore band from Winthrop, Massachusetts. Formed in 1998, the group has released five studio albums. Their fourth record, The March was released on October 14, 2008 meeting with high positive reception by many. Their fifth album, Darkness in the Light, was released July 5, 2011.

Unearth was formed by Trevor Phipps, Buz McGrath, Ken Susi, Mike Rudberg, and Chris Rybicki in Eastern Massachusetts in 1998. The band began as Point 04 (containing McGrath, Rudberg, and Rybicki), and Susi was recruited soon afterwards. The band attempted to recruit Phipps while he recovered from appendicitis, but Phipps was reluctant to join. However, when Phipps showed up to a jam session for one of Susi's side bands, Unearth was practicing instead, and Phipps agreed to join after hearing the song "Shattered by the Sun." The name "Unearth" was coined by drummer Mike Rudberg as he wanted the band to "Unearth" a new sound in the metal and hardcore world. On the small independent label, Endless Fight Records, they released their first EP called Above the Fall of Man in May 1999. Unearth then signed to Eulogy Recordings to release The Stings of Conscience in 2001 and the Endless EP in 2002. During the process of Endless, Chris Rybicki left the group and was replaced by John Maggard.

Trivium

Trivium is an American heavy metal band from Orlando, Florida, formed in 1999. Signed to Roadrunner Records, the band has released five studio albums, eleven singles, and twelve music videos. Their latest album, In Waves was released on August 9, 2011.

At his Lake Brantley High School talent show, guitarist Matt Heafy performed a cover version of "Self Esteem" by The Offspring. Vocalist Brad Lewter noticed Heafy and asked him to try out for his band. The pair went over to drummer Travis Smith's house where they played Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls". Impressed with Heafy's performance, they accepted him into the band known as Trivium. After several shows at bars and local clubs, Lewter quit the band and Heafy took over his position as vocalist. In early 2003, Trivium went into the recording studio to record its first high-quality demo disc. A copy of the demo was heard by German label Lifeforce, who signed Trivium. The band entered a studio to record its debut album, Ember to Inferno.
As time went on, Corey Beaulieu joined. In 2004, Paolo Gregoletto joined as the band's bassist to replace Brent Young, before a tour with Machine Head.bThe album Ember to Inferno managed to garner the interest of Roadrunner Records representatives, who later signed Trivium to a record deal. They then began writing songs for their major label debut.

Attack Attack!

Attack Attack! adalah band heavy metal Amerika dari Westerville, Ohio. Kelompok ini saat menandatangani kontrak dengan Rise Records. Sejak awal mereka terbentuk di tahun 2005, Attack Attack! telah merilis satu EP, If Guns Are Outlawed, Can We Use Swords? dan dua full-length album, Someday Came Suddenly dan sebuah album self-titled.

Hatebreed

Hatebreed was formed in 1994 in Bridgeport, Waterbury and New Haven. They began by recording a three song demo and selling it to locals. Those three songs would eventually be released on a split seven inch with New York's Neglect in 1995. They followed that up with the highly acclaimed EP Under the Knife in 1996, and went out on tour around the east coast/midwest with the UKHC band Voorhees. The following year they released Satisfaction is the Death of Desire on Victory Records, then the home of some of the biggest bands in metalcore. Satisfaction sold more copies than any other debut in the history of the record company.

Tours with national metal bands such as Slayer, Deftones, Entombed and Napalm Death influenced their music and brought them to the attention of many non-hardcore/metalcore fans. These influences were apparent on the band's next two releases, 2002's Perseverance, and especially 2003's The Rise of Brutality.
After the release of The Rise of Brutality, the band took part in the 2004 Unholy Alliance tour in Europe with Slayer, Slipknot and Mastodon. In June, 2006, Hatebreed went on an extensive European tour which included a performance at the Download Festival in Donnington, UK. Immediately following this European tour, they played the main stage at Ozzfest 2006 alongside DragonForce, Lacuna Coil, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, and co-headliners System of a Down.

The band's fourth album, Supremacy, was released in August, 2006, their first through Roadrunner Records, featuring new guitarist Frank Novinec (who had previously spent time playing with Ringworm, Terror, and Integrity). Jasta described it as an "all-out onslaught of completely adrenaline-charged, in-your-face brutality".
On September 13, 2006, former guitarist Lou "Boulder" Richards committed suicide at the age of 35; he had played on 1997's Satisfaction Is The Death Of Desire and left the band in 2002. Hatebreed announced the statement:."

Hatebreed headlined the second stage on the 2007 Ozzfest tour. Hatebreed appeared at Wacken Open Air festival in 2008 alongside Iron Maiden, Children of Bodom, and Avantasia. In April 2008, Hatebreed signed a worldwide deal with Koch Records for the release of their live DVD, a live album, and a cover album entitled "For The Lions", which was released on May 5. On September 2, they released their concert DVD, entitled "Live Dominance". Artists covered included Metallica, D.R.I., Crowbar, and the Cro-Mags.

On February 9, 2009 Guitarist Sean Martin quit the band. Sean quit the band to pursue other interests in music that are more studio-related. However, Sean remains close to and in contact with Hatebreed members.

Hatebreed's fifth studio album, entitled Hatebreed, has been released September 29, 2009. In May 2009, the band also released For the Lions, a record consisting of covers of songs by artists that have influenced the band's development.

In 2010, Hatebreed participated in the third annual Mayhem Festival, alongside 3 Inches of Blood, Shadows Fall, and other bands. On February 17, 2011, it was announced that Hatebreed would partake in the fourth annual Mayhem Festival to yet again headline the Jägermeister stage for 3 dates only.

System Of A Down

System Of A Down adalah sebuah band rock dari Los Angeles, Amerika Serikat. Keempat anggota band System of a Down merupakan keturunan etnis Armenia. Tankian dan Dolmayan lahir di lebanon. Lagu-lagu mereka terutama terkenal selain gayanya yang inovatif, dengan sentuhan musik Armenia. Selain itu isinya juga berisikan ide, pandangan-pandangan,dan apa yang mereka rasakan. Serj Tankian sebagai anggota yang cukup menonjol, memaparkan ide-ide politiknya dalam lagu-lagu SOAD. Mulai dari kampanye rekonisi terhadap Genosida Armenia oleh pemerintah Turki yang terus mereka usung, hingga masalah sosial-politik seperti konsumerisme, perang, globalisasi, lingkungan, dan kekerasan. Selain itu, mereka menulis lagu tentang perubahan atau transformasi pemikiran mereka. Kompas pernah menulis artikel tentang band ini dengan judul "Band Keras Anti Kekerasan". Pemikiran Serj cukup di pengaruhi oleh pengamat politik kiri AS Noam Chomsky. Kataklysm

Kataklysm adalah band death metal Canada. Mereka menyebut gaya musik mereka "north hyperblast" setelah sebuah iklan di majalah M.E.A.T menggambarkan band lain, Fear Factory, sebagai "hyperblast". Istilah ini mengacu pada ketukan sangat cepat dari drummer Kataklysm, Max Duhamel.

Linkin Park

Formasi Neidermeyer's Mind demo, Korn (1993–1995)
Korn terbentuk setelah band L.A.P.D bubar akibat penyanyinya yang ketergantungan obat terlarang. Reginald Arvizu, James Shaffer, dan David Silveria ingin melanjutkan band dengan merekrut Brian Welch sebagai gitaris, lantas memulai band baru bernama Creep.

Awal tahun 1993, Creep mengamati vokalis Sexart, Jonathan Davis untuk diajak bergabung dengan band. Davis sebenarnya tak ingin bergabung, tapi setelah berkonsultasi dengan seorang paranormal dia memutuskan untuk ikut audisi dan akhirnya bergabung. Seperti yang dia katakan sendiri pada sesi wawancara DVD Who Then Now. Setelah Jonathan direkrut, mereka ingin mengubah nama band Creep dengan nama baru. Akhirnya mereka mengubahnya menjadi “Korn”. Jonathan yang menyarankan nama itu ketika sesi latihan yang disukai juga oleh anggota lainnya. Jonathan mengambil krayon dan menulis logo mereka dengan tulisan tangan anak-anak mengganti huruf “C” dengan “K” serta penulisan huruf “R” yang dibalik.

Pada bulan April di tahun itu, Korn mulai menjalin persahabatan dengan seorang produser, Ross Robinson, yang merekam album demo pertama mereka Neidermeyer’s Mind. Selama tahun pertama, mereka kurang mendapat tempat di kalangan penikmat musik yang saat itu aliran grunge masih sangat digandrungi. Disturbed

Sejarah:
Sebelum vokalis David Draidman bergabung dengan Disturbed, lebih dulu tiga personel mempunyai band yang bernama Brawl dengan formasi awal, vokalis pada Awalt Erich, gitaris pada Dan Donegan, drummer pada Mike Wengren, dan bassis pada Steve "Fuzz" Kmak. Awalt meninggalkan band setelah rekaman tape kaset. Ketiga personel tersisa mencari vokalis melalui audisi yang ditampilkan di iklan melalui Publikasi Musik Lokal di Chicago yang bernama "Illinois Entertainer". Draidman megikuti audisi itu. Lamb Of God

Lamb of God is an American heavy metal band from Richmond, Virginia. Formed in 1994, the group consists of vocalist Randy Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler, bassist John Campbell, and drummer Chris Adler. The band is considered to be a part of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal movement.[1][2][3]

Since its formation, Lamb of God has released six studio albums, one live album, one compilation album and three DVDs. The band's cumulative sales equal almost two million in the United States. In 2007 the band received a Grammy nomination for their 2006 album Sacrament. Lamb of God has toured with the Ozzfest twice and appeared on Slayer's The Unholy Alliance Tour in 2006. They have also played at many other major festivals around the world including Download Festival and Sonisphere Festival in the UK, Soundwave Festival, and Gigantour (headlined by Megadeth). Recently, (2008–2010) they have toured with Metallica (World Magnetic Tour). Lamb of God also played on the main stage on Mayhem Festival 2010.

Avenged Sevenfold

Avenged Sevenfold (often abbreviated A7X) is an American heavy metal band from Huntington Beach, California. Formed in 1999, the group consists of M. Shadows (vocalist), Synyster Gates (lead guitarist), Zacky Vengeance (rhythm guitarist), and Johnny Christ (bassist).

They are known for their diverse rock sound and dramatic imagery in album covers and t-shirts. Avenged Sevenfold emerged with a metalcore sound on their debut Sounding the Seventh Trumpet but their style had evolved by their third album and first major label release, City of Evil into a hard rock/heavy metal sound. The band continued to explore new sounds with their self-titled release and enjoyed continued mainstream success before their drummer, James "The Rev" Sullivan, died in 2009. Despite his death, the band continued on with help of now-former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy and released and toured in support of their fifth album Nightmare in 2010 which debuted on the top spot of the Billboard 200, their first number one debut.

To date, Avenged Sevenfold has released five studio albums, one live album/compilation/DVD, and eighteen singles and sold more than four million albums worldwide. The band has received much credit for their worldwide mainstream success and were featured as second place on Ultimate Guitar's Top Ten Bands of the Decade.

Bullet For My Valentine

Bullet for My Valentine are a Welsh heavy metal band from Bridgend, formed in 1998. The band is composed of Matthew Tuck (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Michael Paget (lead guitar, backing vocals), Jason James (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Michael Thomas (drums). They were formed under the name Jeff Killed John and started their music career by covering songs by Metallica and Nirvana. Jeff Killed John recorded six songs which were not released; two of these tracks were reworked later in their career as Bullet for My Valentine. Financial difficulties dictated the name change, which was followed by a change in music direction. In 2002, the band secured a five-album deal with Sony BMG. The band has stated that their music is influenced by classic heavy metal acts such as Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Slayer. The band is part of the Cardiff music scene.

Bullet for My Valentine's debut album, The Poison, was released on 3 October 2005 in the United Kingdom and on 14 February 2006 in the United States to coincide with Valentine's Day hence their band name. The album entered the Billboard 200 in the US at number 128. It was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The band made appearances at the Download Festival and Kerrang! XXV, and undertook a US tour with Rob Zombie. Bullet for My Valentine's second studio album, Scream Aim Fire, was released on 29 January 2008 and debuted at number four on the Billboard 200. The band's third album, Fever, was released on 26 April 2010 and debuted at number three on the Billboard 200. The band has sold over one million albums in the United States and nearly 2,500,000 albums worldwide and are the most-successful act in the Kerrang! Awards category of "Best British Band" with three wins.
